They're just more fun for me because their levels are simply spaces where you have amazing arcadey combat in, rather than dominating the entire game. Walk through the dark room to the elevator in its southwest corner, and ride it down to the ground. I really can't see me coming back to this game again once I complete it (IF I complete it?), whereas I'm happy to play Doom 1 and 2 any number of times, from start to finish. Blue key on Doom II map 6, The Crusher To get the blue key on level 6, The Crusher: When you first begin on this level, you'll start in a small alcove on the east side of a large, darkened room. Clear out the rest of the room and then press on the pillar with. Take out the first few Shotgun Guys and then use the pillars to hide behind while taking out the Revenant.

There are Shotgun Guys on either side and a Revenant stalking the area. The game as it is is just not pulling me in the way Doom 1 and Doom 2 (both of which I replay right through quite regularly) do. Be carefully stepping out into the dark room from your starting location. Section 2.

Section 1.0 deals in exhausted detail with Doom Builders interface: how it looks, how it works, and how to set it up. So wish they had just done that, as a reboot perhaps. 2 1.0 Getting Around in Doom Builder Since few people actually read introductions, Ill take the risk of repeating myself here. I'd rather play Doom 1 and 2 levels with these graphics and be done with that. Too complex for their own good perhaps, they get in the way of the action rather than enhancing it, imo. The levels are beautifully designed, and I admire the work put into them, but they're just not Doom levels.

I think the level design is to blame here. When the combat kicks in Doom absolutely rocks, but the combat is rare, and punctuated by far too many quiet and frankly very boring moments where the game becomes a 'how do I get over to that ledge' platformer more akin to Tomb Raider. I like the game - everything but the level design.
